October is a busy month in the School Counseling Department.

It is Bullying Awareness Month. School Counseling Classroom lessons will focus on identifying bullying situations and

how to handle them. Unity Day is this Wednesday, October 21. Don’t forget to wear ORANGE.

Red Ribbon Week will be celebrated at Buist Academy next week, October 26-30. Our theme this year is

Respect Yourself...Be Drug Free. We will celebrate each day….

Monday – “Pledge To Be Drug Free” – Students will sign a banner pledging to be drug free. The banner will

be located in the cafeteria during lunch.

Tuesday – “I Mustache You Not to Do Drugs” – Students will be given a “mustache” reminder to stay drug free!

Wednesday – “Make Your Mark...Be Drug Free” – Students will be given something that makes a “temporary”

mark to remind them to be drug free!

Thursday – “Saying no to Drugs is the “write” thing to do!” – Students will be given they can use in the classroom

to remember that saying no is the “write” thing!

Friday – “Sock it to Drugs” – Students are invited to wear their craziest socks to celebrate Red Ribbon Week on

    their alternate dress day.

The IB Learner Profile focus for October is Balanced with the Attitude being Independence. Let’s work this

month on being more independent so that we may be physically, emotionally, and intellectually balanced.

Let us know if you have any questions!
